What is Block samiti ?
Government which deals with the matter which
Can’t be dealed by panchayats like large school, hospital.
Now two or more villages join to form a block. This takes
Care of many village. eg) Melamadai + Karuppayurani + Veerapanjan etc. Total 364 Blocks in Tamilnadu .

VIP’s of Block samiti
Mr. Nicholas was born on 16-05-1951 in a Dalit Christian family in a
village called Ayandur in the district of Villupuram in Tamil Nadu state.
He formed their own organization called “Integrated Rural Development
Society” (IRDS) in 1981.
The Congress swept the block samiti elections held in Ludhiana jan 26 in various
parts of the district. While the elections in Ludhiana-II
and Dehlon blocks were postponed for the want of quorum, the results
of 10 blocks were declared in the evening. SAD leaders Harbir Singh and Prita
Kaur were declared elected
chairpersons and vice-chairperson, respectively, for the Block Samiti
of Ludhiana. Ms Jarnail Kaur also a SAD candidate was declared
elected. Ms Rajpal Kaur and Mr Gurmit Singh, both from the Congress
were elected chairperson and vice-chairperson of the Doraha
block, respectively.

Functions:-
• It supervises the working of the village panchayats in that block.
• It arranges funds from the government for block development programmes.
• It prefers the community development programme for that area in various fields such as irrigation, distribution of seeds, fertilizers, education and health facilities and other welfare functions such as the supply of drinking water, sanitation, and cleanliness and financial assistance to village panchayats.
Karimpur-II Development Block & Panchayat Samiti, having its office at
Mahishbathan P.S. Karimpur , more than 80 K.Ms away from the District
Head Quarter, Krishnagar, is one of the remotest and distant place of Nadia
District, under Tehatta Sub-Division.
